The Rose Project Mission

Written below her narrative for 2010, is Dr. Gallagher’s vision of change for our healthcare system, written in March 2007. By making these statements seeds were planted in all people she spoke with. She started with healthcare as her major focus, but it is now expanding to include designing and implementing a community where the people are happy, content, loving, caring, helping one another, nurturing themselves, community and the earth, and finally, working together to share these ideals with others. It has been a long road: many people she spoke with about this vision did not understand what she was talking about, some did not understand why life needed to change, others said ‘you cannot change the world, so why are you trying’, and even still, ‘this is a waste of time, no one cares’. Dr. Gallagher cares.

Her entry for March 2010:

“My vision stems from my childhood when no matter what was going on around me, I still held the thoughts and mystery that life can be wonderful and all people cared about each other every day, doing everything to help each other out. I was slightly correct, some people do help others, but most do not. I had friends who had large families and they would all get together and be laughing and smiling while they were eating and playing. This scenario did not play out in my family. I longed for that unconditional excitement and nurturing they all had for each other. As time went on, I became a seeker, looking for people who had what I wanted so I could feel that, or being with people who were just like myself, repeating the secrets of the past. Fortunately, I did not take the easy way out and constantly set myself to start down a road and hit a block, this was my learning process, just exactly what I wanted and needed from life. It is still a learning process as my children are grown and I have all the time in the world to find myself. I know that material things are not the answer, nor are the paths of other people. What matters to me most is that I love and care about myself and others, unconditionally. The rose Project grew from changing healthcare to changing the mindset of others to work together and coexist, no matter what the other issues of life are at the time. I saw what happened with hurricane Katrina first hand, people needed help, many took advantage of that situation of need and excess giving of others and the core of the people that remain in New Orleans have really done so much for themselves. The media did such a disservice to the area by depicting what the government and the power that be would like to be seen. However, this scenario is not only playing out here, it is everywhere in the last five years. Natural disasters and economic downfalls tend to show the under lying currents in the area and then time just goes by with little change. The result is hardened hearts and souls. The focus of the Rose Project is to spark a candle in the window of those hearts and warm the souls. It is a plan of how one business can help another and how the fruits of one person can support so many others. Join the planting; seeds are sprouting all around you.”

Her entry for March 2007:

Dr. Jeanette Gallagher, Naturopathic Physician, personal health advocate and writer, is actively working to reform our vision of healthcare. In these times of turmoil, a paradigm shift is needed in the structure and responsibilities of the physician, patient and overall healthcare systems. Change seems to be on everyone’s mind, but how do you effect change when the answers you are looking for did not exist in the past? It takes a visionary to design the steps that start the wheels of reform rolling. Reform is the only option, because the current healthcare systems and beliefs have not kept up with an increase in knowledge, technology and costs for medical care.

Change may seem difficult to some who resist a challenge of their longtime beliefs, may be resisted by those who have vested interests in the current delivery system, and may be welcomed in theory but resisted in practice by those unwilling to take personal responsibility and initiative for their own well-being. A paradigm shift will occur when each person takes on the responsibility for the place they are in, accepts that a new design is available and that it is a requirement for personal responsibility for the availability and structure of the new system. To speak up is to raise the energy level and rally those around you to also become aware, stand up, and speak out demanding a shift away from complacency and enabling a rise in the creative flow in everyone.

When someone speaks out, they initiate forward momentum that, hopefully, will be unstoppable. Let us all take the time to speak up and speak out about our healthcare system. We will always be met with resistance, controversy and challenges, but look to those who rise alongside you for support, because they have made a choice of their own free will to stand and demand better, not only for themselves, but for all people suffering the same conditions as they are. Leap into the light: the light of possibility. Only there, in the light, can we construct a new vision.

Dr. Gallagher, a New Orleans resident, is speaking out through her writing and teaching. Please visit her websites periodically to join her in demanding a wholesale shift in healthcare structure. The vision for change is clear, and those who believe in the vision are gripping it like a vice, completely unyielding in their resolve to see change or to force change themselves. Change will occur, and everyone should be prepared to do their part in rebuilding the healthcare system into a model system their children and grandchildren will benefit from and be proud of.

The Rose Project, LLC. is a revolution in the design of the healthcare system for our children’s future. Let us nurture the seeds within ourselves to help the rose within us bloom. May our actions reflect our true inner being to the world.
