The Rose Project MissionWritten below her narrative for 2010, is Dr. Gallagher’s vision of change for our healthcare system, written in March 2007. By making these statements seeds were planted in all people she spoke with. She started with healthcare as her major focus, but it is now expanding to include designing and implementing a community where the people are happy, content, loving, caring, helping one another, nurturing themselves, community and the earth, and finally, working together to share these ideals with others. It has been a long road: many people she spoke with about this vision did not understand what she was talking about, some did not understand why life needed to change, others said ‘you cannot change the world, so why are you trying’, and even still, ‘this is a waste of time, no one cares’. Dr. Gallagher cares. Her entry for March 2010:“My vision stems from my childhood when no matter what was going on around me, I still held the thoughts and mystery that life can be wonderful and all people cared about each other every day, doing everything to help each other out. I was slightly correct, some people do help others, but most do not. I had friends who had large families and they would all get together and be laughing and smiling while they were eating and playing. This scenario did not play out in my family. I longed for that unconditional excitement and nurturing they all had for each other. As time went on, I became a seeker, looking for people who had what I wanted so I could feel that, or being with people who were just like myself, repeating the secrets of the past. Fortunately, I did not take the easy way out and constantly set myself to start down a road and hit a block, this was my learning process, just exactly what I wanted and needed from life. It is still a learning process as my children are grown and I have all the time in the world to find myself. I know that material things are not the answer, nor are the paths of other people. What matters to me most is that I love and care about myself and others, unconditionally. The rose Project grew from changing healthcare to changing the mindset of others to work together and coexist, no matter what the other issues of life are at the time. I saw what happened with hurricane Katrina first hand, people needed help, many took advantage of that situation of need and excess giving of others and the core of the people that remain in New Orleans have really done so much for themselves. The media did such a disservice to the area by depicting what the government and the power that be would like to be seen. However, this scenario is not only playing out here, it is everywhere in the last five years. Natural disasters and economic downfalls tend to show the under lying currents in the area and then time just goes by with little change. The result is hardened hearts and souls. The focus of the Rose Project is to spark a candle in the window of those hearts and warm the souls. It is a plan of how one business can help another and how the fruits of one person can support so many others. Join the planting; seeds are sprouting all around you.”
